Obituary

Jane E. Monahan, 60 years, of Brockton, died August 12, 2011 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born and raised in Brockton, Jane was the daughter of the late John F. and Myrtle E. (Baillie) Monahan. She attended St. Patrick’s and Brockton High School and enjoyed her career as a race horse trainer. Jane was one of the first women in Massachusetts to be certified as a race horse trainer. With her training of horses she had a knack for picking winners of the Kentucky Derby. She was an avid animal lover and also enjoyed gambling, cards, cribbage and trips to Las Vegas.

Jane is survived by two sisters Joan Cantwell of Brockton, Maura (“Casey”) Monahan and her husband Joseph Harrington of N. Weymouth, a brother Peter Monahan of Brockton, two nieces, two nephews and ten grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Patricia Folchi and John E. Monahan

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 2-6pm. A Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 11am. Private family burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
