James Myron Cone, 70, of Omega died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Elder Robert Tucker and Elder Roger Summerlin will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. James Raley, Jerry Crumley, Jackie Crumley, Gary Crumley, Rick Stepp and Charles Sumner will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 15, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Cone was born on September 3, 1940 in Colquitt County and was the son of Walter Edward Cone and Sadie Cummings Cone, both deceased. He was a retired maintenance technician at Tift Regional Medical Center and of the Primitive Baptist faith. He was employed at J.P. Stevens for 29 years and at Shaw Industries in Fitzgerald for 13 years.
Mr. Cone is survived by his wife, Patricia Leslie Cone of Omega; one son, Robert Joe Cone of Fitzgerald; one daughter, Myra Cone of Ty Ty; two brothers, Bobby Gene Cone of Tifton and William Cone of Thomasville; and one sister, Wilda Henderson of Eldorado.
