Ethel Wallace Adkins Mator, age 103, died Friday, August 12, 2011 in Roman Eagle Memorial Home where she had been a resident for 11 years.
Born August 13, 1907 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosa Wallace. She was a homemaker with her first husband, Charlie Adkins, and then with her second husband, Lewis Mator, both of whom predeceased her. Mrs. Mator was of the Church Of God faith.
She is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by five sons, Thomas Adkins, Shields Adkins, Luther Adkins, Sr., James “Tater” Adkins, and Charlie “Buck” Adkins, and by two daughters, Clara Smith and Louise Holder, and also by several brothers and sisters.
Graveside funeral services officiated by Rev. Billy Hedrick will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 2 p.m. in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of her granddaughter, Donna Rowland, 241 Parkland Drive, Danville.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 NW 9th Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494.
