WEBSTER - Margaret M. “Peggy” (Torte) Cyr, 86, of Christopher Heights, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester with her family at her side. Her husband of 49 years, Leo E. Cyr, died in 1997.
She leaves 5 children, Cheryl A. Brochu and her husband Arthur of Thompson, CT, Richard J. Cyr and his wife Deborah of Charlton, Kevin M. Cyr and his wife Charie of Oxford, Joanne M. Saad of Webster and James W. Cyr of Winder, GA; a brother, Anthony Torte of Charlton; a sister, Theresa Finizza of California; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Torte.
She was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of John and Mary E. (Nigro) Torte. She lived in Webster since 1949. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School.
Mrs. Cyr worked at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley for many years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Saint Louis Church. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Calling hours will be from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM Saturday, August 13, in Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, followed by a Mass at 2:00 PM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
