B. Dorothea Brown, 88, of Natick, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester.
Dorothea was born in Natick, MA to the late Carl and Betty (Sidbek) Swanson. She was employed with the US Army Research and Development Lab in Natick for many years as a Procurement Clerk. Dorothea was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Natick where her family helped establish the church. She was a quiet but caring individual who had a deep appreciation for the little things in life. Dorothea was an excellent seamstress and artist. She was a cat lover, and she enjoyed spending time working on her crossword puzzles. Dorothea loved to reminisce about the past and about her days spent on Swifts Beach in Wareham. One thing that Dorothea took pride in was her Scandinavian heritage and that particularly showed in her love for sweet breads and pastries.
Dorothea was the loving mother of Stephen Brown of Leominster and Susan Smith and her husband, Mark, of Gardner. Sister of Carl Swanson of Marston Mills and Elsie Broms and husband, Nils, of Cranston, RI. Beloved cousin of Martha Lang of Natick. Devoted grandmother of Heather Brown, Deserae Thompson, Karlie Loring and Evan Loring.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Dorothea's memorial service at Christ Lutheran Church, 113 Union Ave., Natick, on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2PM.
