LUTHER STEPHENSON "STEVE" LEIGHTON, 94, of Hingham and Cohasset, died on Friday, Aug. 5th, 2011 at Renaissance Gardens at Linden Ponds in Hingham. Born in Hingham where he was raised and graduated from high school, he lived there for many years. He then lived in Cohasset for 25 years before returning to Linden Ponds in Hingham in 2004.
Steve was a happy man with many friends in both towns. In Cohasset, he was a member of the Second Congregational Church, Konohassett Masonic Lodge, AF & AM., and the "Old Goats Club." He also was a member of Old Colony Masonic Lodge, AF & AM in Hingham. For the past 4 years he has been completely blind, a condition that he handled with dignity and grace.
He was the very dear husband of Phyllis (Butler) Leighton; and the beloved father of Scott Leighton of Ft. Worth, Texas, Bruce Leighton and his wife Eileen of Hampsted, NH and Jan Ducey and her husband Paul of Scituate. Loving grandpa of Matthew, Garret, Sean and Kathryn Leighton and Hanna and Hayley Ducey. Brother of the late Doris Mae Leighton.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, Aug. 13th at 9 AM in the Derby Clubhouse Catering Room, 300 Derby St., at Linden Ponds, Hingham.
