Obituary

Grovetown, GA – Amy Lynn Sheppard Murphey, 36, entered into the arms of her Loving Savior and Lord on August 6, 2011, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Amy was born on March 31, 1975 in Augusta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her Papa Rufus Sheppard.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher Chapman Murphey, two sons, Chapman and Levi Murphey, parents, Jack and Susan Sheppard of Grovetown, GA, inlaws, Dr. and Mrs. Alex Murphey, Beloved “Granny” Mary Usry Sheppard and Grandma Bobbie Tyner of Danielsville, GA, brothers, James “Billy” Sheppard (Elaine), Jack Thomas “Tommy” Sheppard (Teresa), Cory Smith (Brooke) of Crawford, GA, nieces, Bailey and Avery Sheppard, Brittany Smith and Carly Anglin, nephews, Tyler, Grayson, and Mason Sheppard, Blake Smith, and Bryson Anglin, special cousins, Mike (Nancy) and Steve (Dana) Garrett, second cousins, Abbie, Laura, Erin, Amber, Keri and Kali Garrett, loving aunt and uncle, Jimmie and Calvin Garrett, Linda and Marvin White, and Jimmy and Terry Tyner, and her entire extended Garrett family.

She was a very devoted Mother to her beloved boys, Chapman and Levi who were her pride and joy. Serving and bringing glory to God was very important to Amy. She was always involved in the life of her Church, always teaching and leading. Amy was a member at Kiokee Baptist Church of Appling, GA and Whole Life Ministry of Augusta, GA.

To all who knew Amy, she was a special person who touched many lives. She was an inspiration to all of us.

As a young girl, she always wanted to be a school teacher, education was very important to her. Amy graduated from Harlem High School and Clemson University with a Bachelors Degree in Childhood Education. She taught at North Harlem Elementary and Riverside Elementary Schools. She was also the secretary for Murphey Brothers Construction Co. She was a living testimony of her faith and Christ to all those that knew her. Anyone that knew Amy knows the love and devotion to her beloved Clemson Tigers. For 15 years she enjoyed performing at the Augusta West Dance Studio. She dances today in her tap shoes for the Lord.

Special thanks to her adoptive Angel and sister, Rosa Lovette and her special Wednesday Night friends and lunch buddies.

Also, special thanks to Aaron and Melissa Cohrs (physical therapist) and Melinda Bentley who kept her on track with healing scriptures daily.

Services will be held at Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling, GA on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 2:00PM with Rev. Jonathon Melchoir, Rev. Larry Harmon, and Rev. Velda Schirhart officiating. Interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Rev. Phillip Burdette officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 8, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Other times at the residence of the Murphey family in Grovetown, GA.

As a token of their love and to honor Amy’s memory, Tommy and Billy Sheppard, Mike and Steve Garrett, Tommy Garrett, and Billy Becton will serve as pallbearers.
