Claude Pepper Lewis, 73, of Tifton died Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Robert Garey, P.J. Lewis, Jay Lewis, Wesley Holly, Butch Newman, Robbie Newman and Jimmie Lewis will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Lewis was born on April 13, 1938 in Live Oak, Florida and was the son of Albert Chester Lewis and Leila B. Green Lewis, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He was retired from Brownlee Farm Center and lived with and was cared for by his grandson, Richard Lewis.
Mr. Lewis is survived by four daughters, Belinda Culpepper of Macclenny, Florida, Terry Lewis of Hahira, Sandra Hughes of Yulee, Florida and Pepper Newman of Live Oak, Florida; one son, James Lewis of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Fred Lewis and James Lewis, both of Wellborn, Florida; one sister, Marie Dill of Mayo, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
