Obituary

Mary Miller Henrique of Provincetown passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 4th 2011 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. In her death the community looses a valuable citizen. Born on May 21 1932, daughter of George F. Miller and Janette M Miller, she was a direct Mayflower descendent and life member of the Mayflower Society though the Brewster and Hopkins line. She came from a long line of merchants, as she was born and raised in Provincetown. She married her soul mate, Phillip Henrique in June of 1953. They celebrated a life together for 47 years. For Mary, high school was followed by college at LaSalle College where she graduated with a degree in finance. Mary and her husband worked and lived for many years in South Weymouth where they raised their two daughters and ran a family business. Mary was a great leader in citizen’s groups over the years and championed many causes. She returned to Provincetown in 1978 to retire as an Inn Keeper where she ran a small guest house known as Dyers’ Beach House for more than 30 years. She is survived by her two daughters; Janette Holt Anderson and Elizabeth Barilaro; five granddaughters; Cynthia Krebs, Susan Holt, Jessie Ford, Leah Barilaro and Ann Barilaro and three great granddaughters. Entombment services are private. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Gately McHoul Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way Provincetown from noon to 1:30pm on Wednesday August 10th. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be sent in her honor to Helping Our Women, PO Box 1376, Provincetown MA 02657.
