VERO BEACH, FL - Edward J. Motyka, 81, of Vero Beach, Florida died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 due to a car accident. He was a winter resident of Vero Beach, FL since 1995 and a full time resident since August 2010. He was a long time resident of Webster.
Mr. Motyka was born December 20, 1929 in Webster. He attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, Bartlett High School and New England College of Pharmacy. He served in the Army. He owned and operated Hartwell’s Pharmacy in Southbridge for 15 years.
Mr. Motyka was past president of the PACC in Webster, a former Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Webster, a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Polish American Social Club of Florida, and member of the Grove Island Golf Club in Florida. He was also actively involved in Habitat for Humanity in Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mary Ann Motyka of Vero Beach, FL; son Paul of Cave Creek, AZ; daughter Linda of Exton, PA; daughter Jane of Alpharetta, GA; stepson David Tamasanis of Easton; brothers Stanley of Southbridge and Peter of Dudley; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Bernice (Magiera) Motyka and by brothers Charles, Walter, Joseph and Tom.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 9:00 AM in Saint Joseph’s Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Garden of Peace in Webster. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either St. Joseph’s School or to Saint Joseph’s School Gym Fund, both 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster.
