Obituary

BEVERLY: Suzanne M. (Masiello) Lewis, 69, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 4, 2011 in the Beverly Hospital. She was the wife of the late James Provencher.
Born in Cambridge on August 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Marie “Kitty” (Oppiddo) Masiello. She was a graduate of Everett High School class of 1959 and Salem State College class of 1963. She had also received her Master’s degree in Education from Cambridge College. She had resided in Beverly for the past forty-five years.
Suzanne taught special education at the Briscoe Junior High School in Beverly for several years. She then went on to teach at St. Mary’s School and first grade at Hannah Elementary School for many years before retiring in 2006.
She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and the Massachusetts Teacher’s Assoc. An avid gardener, she loved to spend time in her yard tending to her tomatoes and spending time in her pool. She also enjoyed her knitting and bridge clubs and summer trips to Long Beach. Her door was open to everyone and her big smile, wonderful laugh, and positive attitude will be greatly missed.
She is survived by two sons, Christopher “Booma” Lewis and David Lewis both of Beverly; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Paul Spence of Raymond, NH; two grandchildren, Dylan and Samantha Spence; her sister, Lorraine Davison of Woburn and longtime friend, Patricia Hirschfeld of Beverly. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, Donna and her husband, Roy Sakabu, Steven and his wife, Elisabeth Lewis, George and his wife, Donna Lewis, Kristina and her husband, Mike Davidson, Jeff Lewis, Steven and his wife, Jill Lewis, Andy and his wife, Roseanne Gangi, Lisa and her husband, Tim Hennelly, Vicki and her husband, Ernie Drougas, Christine and her husband, David McLean, Jonathan and his wife, Candi Gangi and Jeff Gangi and his fiancée, Meaghan Moriarty; two sisters-in-law, Irene Lewis and Debbie and her husband, Tom Derosier and two brothers-in-law, Melvin Lewis and his companion, Jennifer Johnson and John Gangi. She was also predeceased by her sister, Rosemarie Gangi.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7295.
