Joseph P. Durkin, Jr., 82, of Natick, died Friday, August 5, 2011 at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehab Center. He was the beloved wife of Kathleen (Moore) Durkin.
Mr. Durkin was born in Boston to the late Joseph, Sr. and Catherine (Naughton) Durkin. He was raised in Somerville before moving to Natick in 1962. Mr. Durkin honorably served his country in the U.S. Army just after WWII. He was best known for his great sense of humor and his love of sharing jokes with family and friends. Mr. Durkin was a very avid sports fan, trivia buff, golfer, and a very talented artist who often drew pictures for his grandchildren. Above all else, Mr. Durkin was devoted to his family who he loved and adored.
Mr. Durkin is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen; beloved children, Linda Yantz and husband, Eric, of Sterling, Wayne Durkin and wife, Rita, of Northwood, NH, Karen Allen and husband, Robert, of Hopedale and Nancy Sparrow of Natick. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Barbara Doherty of North Reading, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Durkin was predeceased by his sister, Mae, brothers, Barney and Paul, grandson, Daniel Allen.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Mr. Durkin’s visiting hours on Sunday from 3-5PM from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK.
