Mr. Joseph L. Santoro, age 73 of Medford died Thursday at Wilmington Health Care in Wilmington. He is the beloved husband of Esther R. (Petroni) Santoro with whom he shared more than 43 years of marriage. Mr. Santoro was born in Cambridge, son of the late Joseph J. and Santa (Maccagnano) Santoro. He is a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, class of 1955. For many years he worked as a salesman of appliances. He was an avid reader and enjoyed war novels. He was fascinated by stories about wartime and often followed their documentaries. Mr. Santoro was a fan of both the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. In earlier years he was a coach of the North Medford Little League. He coached the Braves and the Eagles. He also served had served as treasurer of that league. He enjoyed barbecues, family functions and nearly anything family oriented. He and his wife enjoyed going out and sampling the various nightlife available. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Mark Santoro of Medford, Paul Santoro and his wife Shaileen of Framingham. Brother of Richard Santoro and his wife Marilyn of Melrose, the late Louise O’Connor and brother in law of William O'Connor of MI; He will be sadly missed by his dog Lola. Friends may call Sunday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, Monday at 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
