Obituary

Irene “Renee” Luther-Marren, 74, of Esmond Village, formerly of Rosemont Terrace in North Providence, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Martin B. Marren and Robert Luther.

Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Mae (Botham) Hanrahan. She lived in Smithfield for many years previously living in North Providence.

Renee was a graduate of the Roger William’s School of Nursing and was an Operating Room Nurse working for 18 years at Roger Williams Hospital and later at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital and Cranston General Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Robert J. Luther and his wife, Fran of Bonita Springs, FL and Sandra Luther Thompson of Smithfield; her grandchildren, Ame Thompson and her companion Steven Doughty of Smithfield, Robert Thompson and his companion, April Waterman of Johnston, Kyle Thompson and his companion, Jessica Scott of Coral Gables, FL, Natalie Luther of Pawtucket and Robert J. Luther, III of Bonita Springs, FL; her great grandchildren, Morgan R. and Ava R. Doughty both of Smithfield and Robert R. Thompson, III of Johnston; two brothers Thomas Hanrahan of Sterling, MA and William Hanrahan of Dayville, CT and her longtime friend Lillian A. DeIorio of Smithfield.

Funeral Tuesday at 9:00 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Monday 4-7 PM.
