Douglas J. Powers, age 49, of Longwood, Florida passed away suddenly on July 29, 2011 due to complications from cancer treatment. He was born December 18, 1961 in Danvers, Massachusetts to Alfred “Mike”& Carol (Spears) Powers. A graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1979 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Class of 1983, Doug was a Civil Engineer with PBH and Associates. Douglas is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Longwood, FL; three sons, Dustin Schieber and his wife Courtney of Longwood, FL, Matthew Powers of Atlanta, GA and Ryne Powers of Longwood, FL ; two daughters, Rachael Weir and her husband Ryan of Chuluota, FL and Erin Powers of Atlanta, GA; and two granddaughters.
He is also survived by two sisters: Cheryl Doucette and her husband Michael of Westbrook, Maine and Kathryn Murphy and her husband Patrick of Duxbury, Massachusetts; three brothers: Michael Powers and his wife Maureen of Danvers, Massachusetts, David Powers of Medeina Beach, Florida, Kevin Powers and his wife Robin of Highland Park, Illinois and 8 nieces and 9 nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Scott Powers. Services were held in Longwood, Florida. There will be a memorial service in Danvers at a later date.
