Obituary

Linda Jean (Elliott) Miles, 67, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Wednesday August 3, 2011 after battling cancer. She was at her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Linda was born December 7, 1943 in Boston, MA, and was the daughter of the late John and Thelma ( Lindstrom) Elliott. Linda was raised and educated in Randolph, MA, received her bachelors in education from California State University, Los Angeles, and a Masters in Library Media Science from the University of Rhode Island. She was a retired Library Media Specialist with the Hudson school district, as well as a former teacher. Linda was a member of the NH retired Teacher's Association, the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, the Beta Phi MU International Library Society, as well as Vice President of the Hudson local of AFSCME for 2004-2005. Linda, always a great lover of books was a member of several local book clubs. Traveling to new and exotic places with her husband, John, filled a great portion of her free time and enriched her life further after their retirement. Her additional joys and interests included spending time with family and friends, as well as scrapbooking and making cards for loved ones. Linda leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, John Miles of Londonderry, son Douglas and his wife Kathryn Miles of Concord, NH, three grandchildren, Zachary, Madison, and Dylan Miles, two daughters, Rebecca (Miles) Conroy and husband Peter of Stoneham, MA, and Sara (Miles) Verge and husband Kevin of Manchester, NH, two brothers, Richard Elliott and wife Sonja of Middleboro, MA and Scott Elliott and wife Jane, of Plymouth, MA, two sisters, Nancy Kelley and husband John, of Raynham, MA and Jacqueline Hughes and husband Stephen, of Taunton, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours were held Monday August 8, 2011 from 4pm to 8pm, at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday August 9th at 10:30 am at St. Marks Church, 1 South Rd., Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney Street Boston, MA 02115.
