John E. Smethurst, 53, of Millbury, formerly of Hopedale and Franklin died Tuesday August 2nd in his home suddenly.
He was born in Milford, son of Carol (Strobeck) Boti and the late Rocco Fannelli. He grew up in Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1975.
John was a resident of Clinton for many years before moving to Millbury.
He worked for many years as a truck driver.
John was a sports enthusiast enjoying the Patriots and the Red Sox, who also loved fishing, camping, and playing cards. He loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his daughters.
He is survived by his mother Carol (Strobeck) Boti and her husband John of Whitman, his daughters, Kaitlyn and Amanda Smethurst , his former wife Suzanne (Saunders) Smethurst all of Clinton, his sisters Lynn Richards of Pittsfield, Andrea Landry of Whitman, as well as several step-siblings, nieces and nephews.
His service will be held on Saturday August 6th at 11:00AM in the Calvary Baptist Church, 429 Monoponsett St., Hanson, MA. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday August 5th from 7:00-9:00PM.in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman.
