Jewell V. Stokes, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, February 13, 2004, at her home.
Funeral services will be 4 PM, Sunday, February 15, 2004 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald with the Rev. Lester Anthony officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00, at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Stokes was born February 23, 1926, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. A homemaker, she was a member of Mable White Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, where she lived for 20 years. During World War II, she was an aircraft mechanic at Robins Air Base. Mrs. Stokes was a former inspector at Fitzgerald Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by her husband: Murphy H. Stokes, Fitzgerald; one son and daughter-in-law: Chris and Sherry Stokes, Fitzgerald; one granddaughter: Christa Stokes, Fitzgerald; one brother: Jack Vaughn, Vidalia, GA; one sister: Irene V. Howell, Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Vaughn, mother, Mae Cody Sumner and step-father, Howard Sumner.
