WAYLAND: John Eddy Marshall, 58, died on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Natick surrounded by his loving family following a long illness.
He was born in Newton on August 15, 1952 the son of Josephine (Caccavo) Marshall of Wayland and the late Alton L.F. Marshall, Jr. who died in January of 2002.
Besides his mother Josephine (Caccavo) Marshall, John was the brother of Marie M. Winter of Wayland, Joanne M. Silvernail and her husband Dr. David Silvernail, Jr. of Leesburg, VA and Jean E. Marshall of Waban. He is also survived by 3 nieces, 4 nephews and 2 great-nephews. John leaves behind his beloved and faithful dog Flo.
John spent his formative years in Wayland and previously resided in Marlborough and Westport and returned to Wayland to live 4 years ago. He graduated from College du Monde in Switzerland and then attended Curry College. He was a graduate of the Executive Management program from the Holiday Inn Hotels and received his A.S. from the Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. For nearly 25 years he was the founder and owner of Import Auto Services of Marlborough. He was an expert sailor and boatman and spent many years re-building yachts in the Caribbean. John would spend his summers sailing on the east coast and living on his boat during the winter months in warmer climates. He was a people person who was devoted to his family and had many friends from all walks of life throughout the world. He was a member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church and spent countless hours volunteering and especially supporting and visiting the elder members of the church and had a wonderful Christian faith always wanting to help others. On occasion, he would bring his dog, Flo to the nursing homes to visit with patients. He also volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in Wayland. He will be missed by his family and all the lives that he touched.
At the request of his family, there will be no funeral home visitations. Private family interment will be held at the Marshall family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
A Memorial Service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Rd (Rte 27/126) Wayland.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in John’s memory be sent to the Deacons Fund at Trinitarian Congregational Church or to Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Rd, Sudbury, MA 01776.
