Obituary

Kenneth "Kenn" Leon Monteiro, 54, of Charlestown, formerly of Brockton and East Bridgewater, died unexpectedly July 29, 2011, at home. Born Dec. 2, 1956, in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Constantino L. and Mary M. (Silva) Monteiro. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1974. He was a member of IATSE Local 11 for over 30 years, in the stage hand unit. He worked as the head electrician for the Shubert Theater for 10 years.
In his earlier years, Kenn owned and operated Pet Towne and Pet Towne II in Brockton for many years. He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling to Key West, Fla., and antiques. Kenn loved his cross country trip in 2002 that he took with his son Matt, which included seeing the Grand Canyon. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his two sons, Matthew D. Monteiro of East Bridgewater and Jason L. Monteiro of Whitman; his sisters, Mary M. Monteiro of Brockton, Diane D. Monteiro of Weymouth, Isabel C. Monteiro of Brockton and Jacqueline A. Monteiro of Brockton; and two grandchildren, Emma Rose Monteiro and Mason Leon Monteiro.
He is also survived by his nieces, Nichole M. Monteiro, Nadine M. Lewis, Jacquelyn M. Cox and Jennette R. Cox; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; and many cousins. He was also the former husband of Karen (Hennessey) Stewart of East Bridgewater.
A memorial gathering for a celebration of his life will be held Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. in Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton. In his honor, please dress casual and comfortable.
