Obituary

Peabody: Raymond H. Bedard, age 85 of Peabody, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at the Blueberry Hill Health Care in Beverly. He was the devoted husband of Doris M. (Demers) Bedard, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Salem, Ray was a veteran of World War II, and served in Europe as well as the South Pacific with the U.S. Army. Following the war, he returned to Salem and in 1951 he and Doris married. Over the years, Ray has worked in different capacities for several companies, including Michaud Bus Lines, Salem Glass and Parker Bros. Games all of Salem. He retired in 1988.

Ray was an avid Red Sox fan, who also loved the family card games, word search puzzles, and scratch tickets. In his earlier years he enjoyed building and repairing bicycles. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed any time they shared together.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Suzanne M. Cody and her husband Walter L. of Beverly, a son Kenneth R. Bedard of Salem, 3 grandchildren, Kerrie Jackson and her husband Christopher, Stephanie Lausier and her husband Jeffrey, and Karyn Bedard, 4 great-grandchildren, Connor, Keira, Camryn and Olivia. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Anne Boulay and her husband Robert of Salem, Claudette Pinault and her husband Roger of Rochester, NH, Lucille St. Pierre of Salem. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Leona McCauley, Theresa Hutchinson & Yvette Theriault, and a brother, Roland Bedard.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by his funeral mass in St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Church St. Peabody (Behind City Hall) at 11 a.m. Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
