MRS. VERA SHELNUT CROUT
Evans – Mrs. Vera Shelnut Crout, 91, entered into rest on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Lake Crossing Health Center with her children by her side.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Elders Ed Thurmond and John Harriss officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Crout was a native of White County, Georgia, and was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by a son, Tim Shelnut of Augusta, two daughters: Rebecca Tomczak (Gene) of Grovetown, & Sylvia Goss of Charlotte, NC; four step daughters: Ruth Baxley of Greenville, SC, Katherine Hawkins (Gerald) & Esther Reese, both of West Columbia, SC, & Pat Helms (Lou) of Riverside, CA; three sisters: Iona Farrow (Sam) of Savannah, Arjorie Fields of Concord, NC, & Ovalene Fulcher (Gene) of Augusta. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren & twelve great grandchildren. She also leaves behind extended family & friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, the late Boss W. Shelnut and the late Harvey L. Crout, as well as her beloved granddaughter, Julie Shelnut.
Pallbearers will be James Shelnut, Jeff Shelnut, Roman Davis, Billy Cook, Paul Druskis, Stuart Goss & Eddie Medina.
The family will greet friends at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Rd, Evans, GA from 6-8 pm on Sunday, July 31st.
