Abington – Blanche M. (Lamoureaux) Blum, a resident of Abington for 54 years, died Thursday July 28 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to the late Frederick J. Blum, Jr.
Born in Central Falls, RI and raised in Warwick, RI she was the daughter of the late Henri and Marie (Isabelle) Lamoureaux, and had attended school in Rhode Island.
Blanche had been a proud Veteran of World War II having served as a Corporal in the US Army Air Force from 1944-1946, and remained an active member of the American Legion of Abington.
She had worked at Gorham Silver of RI, Raytheon of Quincy, Grass Instruments of Braintree, and for several years had been a teacher’s aide and crossing guard at the Center School of Abington.
She is survived by her loving children Frederick J. Blum, III of Abington and Lorraine Hurcombe and her husband William of Hanson.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours Sunday July 31 from 4-8 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. A memorial service will be held Friday August 5 at 11 AM also in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow her service in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
