Evans – Mrs. Charlene Kent Brelsford, beloved wife of Richard Brelsford, died at Brandon Wilde, on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, following an illness.
Mrs. Brelsford, the former Charlene Helen Kent, was born in Gladwin County, Michigan, and graduated from Beaverton (Michigan) High School in 1950. She attended Michigan State University where she earned Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1953 and a Master of Arts in Education in 1958.
Following university graduation, she taught in public schools at several locations including Michigan, New York, Maryland and Germany. She was also a Food Specialist with the Cooperative Extension Service at North Carolina State University where she prepared training programs for field use and made presentations at the university’s public TV station. After earning her third degree in 1985, she worked in an office management position in the Technology Center of Siltec Corporation, a maker of silicon wafers for the integrated circuit industry.
She met her spouse to be, Richard Bidwell Brelsford, of Birmingham and Hale, Michigan, when both were students at Michigan State. After a number of military and job related moves, the Belsfords, then retired moved to Aiken, South Carolina, where they built a home in 1992. In 2002, they moved to Brandon Wilde, a retirement home in Evans, Georgia.
In addition to her husband, Richard, she is survived by her brothers, Millard M. Kent of Midland, Michigan and William F. Kent of Beaverton, Michigan. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Millard (Mike) and Julia Kent.
