C. Alice Douton, age 72, of Groton, passed away Thursday at Mystic Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
She was born in Clinton, CT on June 15, 1939 the daughter of Wilson and Clara (French) Hathaway. Raised in Clinton, she moved to Mystic as an adult and was employed as Secretary to the Town of Groton Chief of Police for many years before retiring.
Alice loved living by the water and enjoyed playing the piano and painting. She was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jamie (Monica) Douton, Todd (Judy) Douton, and Diana (Robert) Evans; her grandchildren, Nick, Sean, Jamie, Kayla, Devin, Gavin, Sydney, Michael, William, Emily, and Sophie; and a great-granddaughter, Mia.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Monday from 4pm-5:45pm, followed by a service at 6pm. Her family will gather privately for burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Killingworth.
