Mildred Sprecher Snoke, 91, of Laramie, Wyoming, passed away on July 19, 2011, at the Laramie Care Center. She was born on October 31, 1919, in Baltimore, Maryland, and was a daughter of Russell S. and Martha Pennewell Sprecher of Baynesville, Maryland. In 1938, she graduated from Towson High School with a commercial degree. During WWII, she worked in the Baltimore area as a secretary for the Bendix Corporation and Army 3rd Service Command. In early 1945, she married Wilmot A. “Bill” Snoke of Mowersville, Pennsylvania, and their marriage lasted 23 years until his death in April 1968. During her marriage to Bill, she was a homemaker in Baltimore. She always enjoyed spending time near the Chesapeake Bay or Atlantic Ocean. She, Bill, and their son, Arthur, typically spent several weeks during the summer at Ocean City, New Jersey. She enjoyed vocal music, especially many rock-and-roll and country music artists of the latter part of the 20th Century.
She is survived by her son, Arthur W. Snoke and daughter-in-law, Judith G. Snoke, of Laramie, Wyoming; two granddaughters, Cynthia Snoke Jessen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Alison Snoke Morton (John) of Algonquin, Illinois; and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Morton and Jack Morton of Algonquin, Illinois, and Sara Jessen of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mildred was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ruth Sprecher Lee and her brother, Edward P. Sprecher. A memorial service to celebrate Mildred’s life will be held on Monday, July 25th at 11:00 am at Towson Presbyterian Church, 400 West Chesapeake Avenue, Towson, Maryland. She will be buried next to her husband at the Baltimore National Cemetery.
