Obituary

Worcester- Minerva A. “Minnie” (Rooff) Hider, 90, of Worcester, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Lutheran Home of Worcester.

Her husband, Charles F. Hider, died in 1974. Her daughter, Catherine J. Hider, died in 1974. She leaves a grandson, Christopher C. Hider of Spencer; a brother, Harold Rooff of California; 2 great grandchildren. Another brother, Phillip Rooff, predeceased her. She was born in Schenectady, New York, and lived here many years. She graduated from Commerce High School.

Mrs. Hider was a receptionist and hygienist for Dr. Lloyd E. Byrd for many years, before retiring in 1970.

She was a member of St. George’s Orthodox Cathedral and the Worcester County Light Opera Club, where she served as their press agent. She was a ward for the democratic party. She was on the board of governors and was a senior volunteer at Friendly House for many years. She enjoyed Bingo.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster St. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friendly House, 36 Wall St., Worcester, MA 01604. DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., is directing arrangements.
