WORCESTER-Donald T. Fitman, 70, of 1029 Pleasant Street, died Wednesday, February 11th in UMass Memorial Healthcare after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 43 years Maureen C. (McCarthy) Fitman, 4 sons Kevin M. Fitman of Spencer, Neil J. Fitman of Whitinsville, Donald P. Fitman of Worcester and Thomas J. Fitman of Sutton, a daughter Kathleen A. Sherman of Worcester, a brother Harold J. Fitman, Jr. Of Concord, CA, 3 sisters Sr. Catherine Laboure with the Sisters of Providence in Holyoke, Irene C. DeSalvio of Worcester and Joyce Acker of Marlborough, 11 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. A sister Barbara Deschenes predeceased him.
He was born in Worcester the son of Harold J. and Irene C. (Hinds) Fitman. Mr. Fitman was a graduate of Commerce High School and Worcester Vocational Tech. He had been a project manager and electrician with Coghlin Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 96, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, the Ionic Avenue Boy’s Club and was a Little League Coach for Maranville Little League.
The funeral is Saturday, February 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial is in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, February 13th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
