WESTFORD - Gloria J. (Parsons) Boutin, 58, a former hair salon owner in Lowell and coffeeshop owner in Tewksbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center inBurlington after a gallant battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert L. Boutin Sr., withwhom she would have celebrated a 30th wedding anniversary on July 5th.
She was born in Presque Isle, Maine, June 28, 1945, the daughter of Roy D. Parsons ofDavenport, Fla., and the late Doris P. (Buzzell) Parsons. She had lived in Westford the greaterpart of her life.
She began her working career in the Accounting Department of the Boston and Maine Railroadoffices in Boston. She changed careers when she purchased the Bradford Coffee Shop inTewksbury. Upon the sale of the restaurant to her brother John Parsons, she opened Gloria andCompany Hair Salon on Aiken Street in Lowell. She ended her hairdressing career and retired while working for her daughter, Robin Gordon, at Shear Eleganz hair salon in Tyngsboro.
She will be remembered for her love of her family and her generosity in raising foster childrenalong with her own family.
Besides her husband and father, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert L.Boutin Jr. of Manchester, NH, Joseph and his wife Laurie (Descheneaux) Boutin of Windham,NH; three daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and her husband Mark Gordon of Billerica, Brendaand her husband Thom Grant of Hudson, NH, and Bonny and her husband Eric DeBeaucourt ofWestford; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Karen Parsons of Merrimack, NH, Johnand Germain Parsons of Davenport, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Tori and Avery DeBeaucourt,Carolyn Boutin, Carissa, Amanda, and Ross Gordon, Tyler Grant, Chad Boutin; and aunt anduncle, Steve and Opal Fields of Haines City, Fla.; many foster children including David McCarthyof Melrose and Bob MacIntyre of Haverhill; and numerous dear friends.
She was also sister of the late Robert G. Parsons.
Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Feb. 16, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Followingcremation, a spring burial will be held in Tewksbury Cemetery.
