Ouida Myrick Bateman, 86, of Lizella (formerly of Irwin County) died Monday, July 18, 2011, at the home of her daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Interment will follow in Old Valley Grove Cemetery in Irwin County. Visitation will be held at 11:00 until the funeral hour at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Bateman was born February 17, 1925 in Irwin County to the late Clifton L. and Rachel Griffin Myrick. She lived in Irwin County most of her life and was a former resident of Macon. Mrs. Bateman was a former employee of J.H. Filbert Company in Macon before moving back to Ocilla in 1980. She was a member of Old Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church, the Ocilla Garden Club and a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Patricia & Ronald Murray of Lizella; son and daughter-in-law: Ronald & Patti Bateman of Forest Park; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Thomas & Sarah Myrick, Travis & Jeannie Myrick and Billy & Nita Myrick all of Interlachen, FL as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huff Bateman, son, Larry Bateman, granddaughter, Leigh Ann Barton and 3 brothers.
