Ngin “Doc” Chin, 86

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Ngin “Doc” Chin, 86, of Mansfield formerly of Boston passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 19, 2011 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. He was the beloved husband of the late Annie May (Wong) Chin.
Born in Canton, China on August 13, 1924, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ark H. Chin. He grew up and was educated in China, and at the age of 16, Mr. Chin moved to the United States.
A retired chef, “Doc” had worked for 10 years at Mei Ling’s Restaurant in Medford and had formerly been employed at Ming’s Deli in Wrentham.
He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged on February 1, 1946 with the rank of Private First Class.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 25 years, he had previously lived in the South End of Boston. “Doc” was a former member of the American Legion in Chinatown and the Gee Association, also in Chinatown.
His passion in life was the Boston Red Sox and was delighted to watch his favorite team win 2 World Series in the past several years. “Doc” enjoyed his daily walks in Mansfield and playing the lottery. His family was the focal point of his life and they will always fondly remember him for his exceptional cooking skills.
He is survived by his devoted children Allan Chin and his wife Leah of Mansfield, Gene Chin and his wife Carole of North Easton and Dorothy Chin and her husband James Johnson of Mansfield. Mr. Chin is also survived by his adoring grandchildren Stephanie Chin, Kimberly Johnson, Steven Johnson and Christopher Johnson all of Mansfield.
Services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday July 22nd at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. for burial services at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 21st from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
