Obituary

WASHINGTON...Alice I. Barton, 99, of Metamora, formerly of Washington, died at 4:05 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2011 at Snyder Village Nursing Home in Metamora.
She was born on February 21, 1912 in Washington, Illinois, a daughter of Edward A. Bradle and Blanche Meyer Bradle. Alice married Robert J. Barton on September 8, 1937 in Washington, Illinois. He died December 28, 1996.
Among those surviving are two sons, Stephen R. Barton of Washington and Grant M. (Linda) Barton of Morton and three granddaughters: Lindsay (Joseph) Franklin of Morton, Leslie (Nathan) Wenzel of Peoria and Leisa (Dennis) Rumshas of Montgomery, IL and one grandson, Robert Barton of Washington. Three great grandsons: Wyatt Franklin, Grant Franklin and Owen Rumshas. Several nieces and nephews who treasured Aunt Alice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters (Gladys Roehm, Esther Evans and Bernice Zinser) and three brothers (Gilbert Bradle, Robert Bradle and Raymond Edward Bradle).
Alice was a homemaker. She was active with the Methodist Medical Center Service league and in her church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington. Alice was an avid golfer with the Hillcrest Golf League and the Pine Lakes Golf League. She also had been a beautician in Washington for many years.
She graduated from Mid State College with a Cosmetology Degree in 1932.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2011 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with Pastor John Bates officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Mason-White Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mark’s Building Fund, Parish Nurse program or Snyder Village Assisted Living or Skilled Care in Metamora.
