Laverne L. Williams, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at the Medical Center Of Central Georgia, Macon, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 12, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Collier and Rev. Wilburn Wiley officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born June 13, 1923 in Chatham County, Georgia to the late David and Lucy Sparks Lamb. Her husband, Woodrow Williams also preceded her in death. She moved to Fitzgerald in 1987 from Jesup, Georgia and lived for many years in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a former employee of Sam O’s and Bargain Street Grocery in Savannah. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Williams was a member of New Life Church in Abbeville, Georgia.
Mrs. Williams is survived by three daughters: Zelna Nunn and Sandra Singletary, both of Fitzgerald and Debbie Kerby, Augusta; two sons: Larry Tucker, Lake City, FL and Carlos Tucker, Lumberton, NC; fourteen grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two sisters: Louise Grimes, Byron and Aura Parham, Vidalia; two brothers: Delmas and James Lamb, both of Savannah.
