Obituary

Michele “Mike” G. Contino, 81, of Stonington died Saturday, July 16, 2011.

He was born on June 16, 1930 in his parents’ home on Shaw Street in New London. He was the youngest of 4 sisters and 5 brothers. He still has 2 brothers living, Sebastian and James Contino.

Mike was a radio technician in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. After the service, he was a self-employed builder and developer. He was a member and past president of the Southeastern CT Home Builders Association. He was inducted into the Builder’s Hall of Fame. He was also chairman of the Board of Tax Review in Stonington for over 40 years.

He liked crabbing, fishing and most of all going to his family’s sporting and other events.

Mike was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marie Contino. He is survived by his 4 sons: Ron Contino, his wife, 2 daughters and one son; Mike Contino and his life partner; Rick Contino, his wife, 3 sons and one daughter, and David Contino and his fiancé, as well as 4 great grandchildren.

His family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
