Dorothea (Droesch) Szabo, 87, A resident of North Andover, MA, and a former long time resident of Hardwick, Massachusetts died on Saturday July 16th, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Queens, New York on November 19th, 1923 to Louis A. & Dorothy (Straub) Droesch she was educated in local schools she was a graduate of Mary Louis Academy Queens, New York. She received her Bachelor Degree in Child Study from St. Joseph College in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Szabo went onto to receive her Masters in Education from Colombia University in New York. She worked as a Elementary Teacher, for the Hardwick School System for over 30 years until her retirement. She and her husband opened and operated for 10 years “World on a String” Kite Store located in North Hampton, MA. She loved to travel giving lectures and demonstrating on the flight of a kite and on how to construct them as well. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Gilbertville Library for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Zoltan C. Szabo, Her children: Stephen C. Szabo and Lynne Dunham of Sterling, VA, Andrew Szabo of Agawam, MA, her daughters: Margaret Sleevi and her husband Mark of Longmont, Colorado, Catherine and her husband Dan Ryan of North Andover, MA. Three sisters: Phyllis Grady of CT, Lucille Viola of CT, and Virginia Trumpbour of New Jersey. One brother Louis Troesch Jr. of Colorado. As well as 7 grandchildren and two great grand children and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter: Elizabeth A. Hannigan.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10:00AM at St. Michael Church in North Andover, Massachusetts.
