Georgia L. Shortt, age 61, died at Spring Meadows Health Care Facility in Clarksville, TN on Saturday July 16, 2011 after a long battle with Cerebellar Ataxia.
Born September 7, 1949 in Hellier, KY, Georgia lived in Richlands, VA for most of her life, but has resided in Clarksville, TN with her children, PJ and Bobbi, since April 2006. Georgia was a faithful servant of God and a long time member of Raven Assembly of God Church in Raven, VA and also regularly attended Faith Outreach Church in Clarksville, TN.
Survivors include son, PJ Shortt and wife Laura of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Bobbi Shortt also of Clarksville, TN; step-children include son, Michael Shortt and wife Joni of Savannah, GA; daughter, Paula Eggleston and husband Paul of Oak Ridge, NC. Siblings include Donald L. Case and wife Darlene of Richlands, VA, Thomas R. Case and wife Debbie, also of Richlands, VA, Newton Case and wife Elaine of Midlothian, VA, Sue Rutherford and husband Charlie of Marryville, TN. In addition to her five siblings, she is survived by seven nieces and nephews.
Georgia was preceded in death by Paul L. Shortt (husbaqnd of 33 years); Thomas Monroe Case (father); Ethel "Estep" Case (mother); Cecil Case (brother); and Daisey Wieczorek (sister).
Visitation services will be held Tuesday evening, July 19, 2011 at Hurst Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA. Burial services will be held at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery, 3201 Front Street, Richlands, VA at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends are welcome at New Hope Assembly Church, located on Claypool Hill Mall Road in Claypool Hill, VA after the funeral to celebrate the life of Georgia. Food and drinks will be provided.
