Obituary

Daisy Lucille Stone Hill, 98, of Tifton died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Eddie Hutcheson will officiate with burial to follow in Lawrence Cemetery. Steve Edenfield, Brian Hill, Richard Hill, Christopher Johnson, Pepper Thomason and J. H. White will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Mrs. Hill was born on October 12, 1912 in Waleska (Cherokee County) and was the daughter of William Andrew “Will” Stone and Arsilla “Silla” Puckett Stone, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elbert Hill, who died in 1967; two brothers, Kennard Clayton Stone and Willie Arnold Stone; one sister, Mamie Arlevia Stone Perry; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Parker Hill; and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Johnson.

She moved to South Georgia with her family as a young girl. A daughter of a farming family, Daisy was five years old when World War I broke out; survived the Great Depression; and was a young wife during World War II. She loved and was devoted to her family and her church family. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a 20-year retiree of Beverly Health Care (now Golden Living Center), where she worked until she was 76. She was a member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God. The sweet fragrance of her love will always be with us and the sunshine of her love will light our way throughout the years.

Mrs. Hill is survived by her children, Joy Hill of Acworth, Pat Hill Rentz and husband, Bill, of Doerun and Don Hill of Deland, Florida; eight grandchildren, Teresa Vorkellar of Marietta, Beverly Rozier, Jeri Kay Beckham, Angela Johnson and Brian Hill of Deland, Florida, Bruce Hill of Port Orange, Florida, Kyle Rentz of Palmer, Alaska and Kevin Rentz of Monmouth, Oregon; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Maudine Hill, Ruth Ciraldo, Virginia Stone and Myra Huggins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Children’s Cancer Foundation, 451 East Graves Avenue, Orange City, Florida 32763.
