Penia S. Spillers, 92, of Ocilla, Georgia died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Osceola Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M., Sunday, July 17, 2011 in the Brushy Creek Cemetery with Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Spillers was born June 6, 1919 in Cook County, Georgia to the late Thomas T. and Vesta Lindsey Simpson. She had lived in the community for the past 17 years coming from Sumner. She was retired from Miller Brothers Meat Packing Company in Sylvester. Mrs. Spillers was a member of Sumner Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters: Laverne Golden of Ocilla and Debbie Howell of Albany; grandchildren: Jerry Golden of Harvest, AL, Sabrina Golden Wolfersberger of Silver Spring, MD, Melissa Arrowood of St. Augustine, FL, and Joyce Schree Selph of Albany; seven great-grandchildren; brother: Charlie Simpson of Washington state; sister: Ava Nell Partin of Chula; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elzie Lee Jernigan, husband: Ozzie Lee Spillers; five brothers, and five sisters.
