
Mary Clyde Potts, age 89, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born July 15, 1921 in Calhoun County, MS to the late Fredrick and Pearl Reasenover Joblin. Clyde was a member of Driver's Flat Baptist Church. She loved her home, flowers, knitting and crocheting, and cooking big Sunday dinners for her family. Clyde was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 from 5 to 7 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Jimmy Sockwell and Bro. Steve Quarrels officiating. Interment will be in the Driver's Flat Baptist Church Cemetery with her great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Clyde is survived by her daughter, Annie Sharp (Barney) of Lafayette County, MS; two sons, Alvie Potts (Lucille) of Paris, MS and James Potts (Lottie) of Driver's Flat, MS; two sisters, Louise Garner of Philadelphia, MS and Jennie Lou Sparks (Tommy) of Winston-Salem, NC; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Clyde was preceded in death by her husband, Arvy Newell Potts; a daughter, Mary Lou Potts; three sons, Alvin Newell Potts, Charles William Potts and Howard Clinton Potts; two sisters, Margie Reynolds and Ruby Patton, and six brothers, Edison Joblin, Walter Joblin, Charlie Joblin, Gene Joblin, Roy William Joblin and Leonard Joblin.
