Bacil Edwin Hartsfield, age 85, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley, MS. He was born on September 30, 1925 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Elton Lee and Janie Thweatt Hartsfield. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Bacil was a retired cattle farmer and lived in Water Valley, MS all his life. He was a member of the VFW and Camp Ground Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 5 to 7 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, with his nephews serving as pallbearers.
Bacil is survived by his sister, Ila Jewell Johnson; his nephew, Lee Edwin Hartsfield, and his niece and caretaker, Shelby Furr (Hilman), all of Water Valley, MS.
In addition to his parents, Bacil was preceded in death by his brother, Burlin Hartsfield.
