Obituary

GREALY, Michael J. – 97, of Newton, formerly of West Roxbury on July 12, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Sullivan) Grealy. Loving father of Michael and his wife Missy of Montreal, Canada, Mary Ellen of Newton and Thomas of Roslindale. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Katie and Sarah as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Grealy was an attorney and practiced law in Boston for many years. During World War II, Mr. Grealy was an officer in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Bomb and Mine Disposal Team. He was responsible for the disarming and detonation of an unexploded ordinance throughout the Pacific Theater. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Funeral from the P.E. Murray-George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday, July 18th at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Newton Centre, at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, July 17th from 4-8 PM. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mike’s memory to the McCarthy, McLaughlin, Grealy Scholarship Fund at Boston College High School, 150 Morrissey Blvd. Dorchester, MA.
