Worcester - Gertrude (Johnson) Scally passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Her husband of 59 years, Warren T. Scally predeceased her in 2007. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Teresa Johnson. She is survived by her beloved and dedicated four children, Sandra Tate of Hiram, ME, Judy Russo of West Boylston, Warren Scally, Jr. of Holden, and Frank Germain of Tyngsboro. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She leaves a brother, Gordon Johnson, of Rutland.
She attended Commerce High School and Worcester Trade High School Nursing Program. She had her nursing training at St. Vincent Hospital and graduated in 1965 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Memorial Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 1978.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Stella Chapter #3, and a Past President of United Commercial Travelers. She was an avid golfer and writer of poetry, of which many have been published. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Sunday, July 17, from 5-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, Monday, July 18, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery.
