Louise Fumiko Horiuchi Caison, 88, of Franklin, Mass. passed away on July 12. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, she attended Hilo High School and Marquette University, and graduated from Saint Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Honolulu. A long-time resident of Fort Worth, Texas, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, active in the Ruth Circle and as a Stephen Series minister. Louise enjoyed a long, rewarding career as an RN, serving as president of the Texas chapter of NAACOG and a founding member of the Fort Worth DueƱa program. Louise also was a Reiki-trained dedicate and a volunteer for both Meals on Wheels and the Hospice Program of Forth Worth, and made several trips to Mexico as a surgical team member for cleft palate repair.
Louise was married to the late Leon R. Caison of Fort Worth, and as a military spouse she lived in a host of cities across the U.S. She loved adventure and the performing arts, and was a docent and patron of the Van Cliburn Foundation and Competition, as well as a member of the Japanese Society of Fort Worth. She especially enjoyed taking motorcycle road trips with her family, was an avid gardener, and was renowned as a fierce cookie maker.
Beloved for her unfailingly kind and gentle nature by her family and friends in Hawaii, Texas, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Japan and elsewhere, Louise is survived by her brother Glenn Horiuchi and his wife Pauline of Hilo, Hawaii; her children, Frederick and his wife Jenny of Annapolis, Maryland; Freida of Seattle, Washington; Eric and his wife Mary of Fort Worth, Texas; and Kathryn Larkin and her husband Stephen of Franklin, Mass. Also survived by her grandchildren Colin Caison of Fort Worth and Hunter and Griffen Larkin of Franklin, and great-grandchildren Jesse and Keira Caison; and many nieces and nephews.
A private service was held for the family in Boston and a memorial service will be held in Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, please remember her in prayer. Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin.
