Joseph F. Miccile, 93, a lifelong resident of Natick, passed away unexpectedly at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on July 11, 2011 after suffering a fall at his home. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Corbosiero) Miccile with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Born in Natick, Mr. Miccile was educated in the Natick Public Schools and was a graduate of Natick High School. He served as a Medical Technician with the 1st. Emergency Rescue Squadron in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII participating in action in Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Northern Apennines, Po Valley, and the Balkans. Mr. Miccile received the European Asian Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Medal with 7 Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Air Medal. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on September 3, 1945 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Upon returning to Natick from his military service, Mr. Miccile began his lifelong career as a builder and dedicated employee of Bratko Builders in Wellesley. A proud member of the Carpenter’s Union, Mr. Miccile was also an avid bowler who was one of the oldest bowlers at Fairway Lanes in Natick until they closed this year. In his recent years, Mr. Miccile became an avid computer user and was well versed at trading stocks and managing his portfolio. Above all else, Mr. Miccile will be remembered for the love he showed to his wife, children, granddaughter, and all those that had the privilege of being his friend.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Miccile is survived by his children, Donna Hoyerman and her husband John of Tampa, FL, Joyce Miccile of Natick, and Joseph Miccile and his wife Kathy of Fremont, N.H.; his granddaughter, Samantha Miccile of Fremont, N.H.; his sister, Viola McNally of Framingham; his brother, Frank Miccile of NV; and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his siblings, Gertrude Wells, Mary Leone, Bruno Balducci, Jack Balducci, Louis Miccile, and Tony Miccile.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Mr. Miccile’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St. (Rt. 135) NATICK.
