FERNANDINA BEACH. FL - Ernest J. “Ernie” Malboeuf, LCDR USN Ret., age 72, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Morris Center of Shands Pavilion in Jacksonville, FL.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Vohnceil “Vohn” Malboeuf; a niece, Diana Dutram; a nephew, Paul Dutram; 3 cousins, Donald, Emile and Roland Malboeuf; and many friends.
He was born and raised in Webster, the only son of Ernest and Helen (Kaczmarek) Malboeuf. After graduating from high school, Ernie joined the United States Navy. During the next 30 years, he advanced to the rank of Lieutenant Commander before retiring in 1987. During his active duty career, he served in administration at duty station NAS Jax., Cecil Field, Mayport, Guatanamo Bay, Cuba and then at Pensacola, FL aboard the USS Intrepid, the USS Forrestal and the USS Columbus.
After 1987, Mr. Malboeuf obtained his real estate license. With his love of administration and management, he worked as the office administrator at Cape Canaveral Towers in Cocoa Beach. When he and his wife moved to Amelia Island, he worked at All Service Realty.
Above all else, Ernie was a Christian, which was exhibited through his daily walk to and membership in the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fernandina. For the past 7 years, he served as the church administrator and also as head usher.
Funeral services were held July 9 at the church, with Pastor Ida Iverson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 Atlantic Avenue, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. Oxley-Heard Funeral Home, Fernandina Beach, directed the arrangements.
