Mattie Lou Crews Cohen, age 88, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, July 11, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Cohen was born in Hoboken, GA to the late Ira J. and Neva Dixon Crews on April 4, 1923. She was preceded in death by brothers: Farley Crews, Archie B. Crews, Reppard Crews and Elzria Crews; sisters: Martha Lee Crews and Frances Hyers. She was an office manager for the Coffee County Public School system and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with interment following in the Douglas City Cemetery. Survivors include: husband: Harry Cohen, Douglas, GA; sons: Billy Henry Cohen, Alma, GA, John Cohen, Douglas, GA; sisters: Mary Thomas, Waycross, GA, Thelma Strickland, Jacksonville, FL; brothers: Fleming Crews, Hoboken and Ira W. Crews both of Hoboken, GA; grandchildren, Kristy Bagley, Brittini Donahue and Jessica Cohen all of Douglas, GA; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
