Christine Turner Lucas, 93, of Enigma died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Marv Williams will officiate with burial to follow in Enigma Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Lucas was born on June 22, 1918 in Irwin County and was the daughter of Joseph Turner and Mary Ellen Owens Turner, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Hudson Lucas. She was retired from Colony Cookware and was a member of Mount Zion Ministries in Enigma. She loved quilting, sewing and singing. She loved God and her family and going to church.
Mrs. Lucas is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Tootie Lucas of Branson, Missouri, Gene and Becky Lucas of Macon, Carlton and Ginger Lucas of Cosby, Tennessee and Michael and Ruby Lucas of Centerville; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Hurshell Pope of Enigma; one sister, Belle Harrell of Ocala, Florida; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
