Celebrating 101 years, Louise Sherman (Sprague) Chase born February 6, 1910 in Brockton, MA, passed away July 11, 2011 surrounded by friends and family at her home in Brockton. Louise was preceded in death by Alton, her husband of 72 years. Louise was a long time resident of Brockton and Wareham. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Revolution, Amaranth, Eastern Star and the Mayflower Society as well as the Stetson Kindred Association. She was the eldest member of the Pearl Street United Methodist Church and had been an active member of the Good Shepherd Church of Wareham. Louise had an active faith life, was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, role model and mentor to virtually everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by four children Ann Clark of Brockton, Harry Chase and his wife Lise of Sudbury, Ellen Long and her husband Peter of Brockton and Richard Chase and his wife Maryann of Wilbraham; eight grandchildren, two of whom are actively serving in the armed services in the Middle East, and ten great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister Ruth Guy of Brockton and sister-in-law Ruth Goode of CA. She was the sister of the late Herbert and Everett Sprague.
Her funeral will be held Thursday July 14, 2011 at 11am with visitation 10-11am at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton. She will be interred next to her husband in the Coweeset Cemetery in Brockton. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Pearl Street UM Church, 415 Pearl Street, Brockton, MA 02301.
