TEWKSBURY - Joan M. (Fisher) Pondelli, age 64, died Sunday, July 10, in her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous seven month battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Walter J. Pondelli, with whom she celebrated a 45th wedding anniversary last September 13th. She was born in Tewksbury, October 2, 1946, a daughter of the late Fletcher and Marguerite (Henderson) Fisher. She was raised in Tewksbury and attended Lowell Academy to become a hair stylist. She had lived in Merrimac, MA, and Pittsfield, NH, before returning to Tewksbury in 2008.
Along with her career as a hair stylist, she worked in the family businesses as the office manager and bookkeeper for Walter J. Pondelli Foundation Company.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, especially to her grandchildren.
Besides her husband Walter, she is survived by three sons, Walter J. Pondelli Jr., and his companion Trenda Wallace of Tewksbury, James M. Pondelli and his wife Michelle (Fortunata) of Tewksbury, John J. Pondelli and his companion Ella Clark of Exeter, NH; a sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Walter Crowley of Tewksbury; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; John J. and Sandra Pondelli of Deerfield, NH, Joan and her husband Donald Dunham of Quincy, Robert and Christine Pondelli of Tewksbury; her best friend and neighbor, Mary Ann Murphy of Tewksbury; eight grandchildren, Nicole Pondelli, Joseph Pondelli, USAF, currently stationed in Texas, Mia Pondelli, Gianna Pondelli, James Pondelli, John J. Pondelli, Jr., Maria Pondelli, Ashley Pondelli, one great granddaughter, Adriana Pondelli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late, Robert Fisher, Lillian LeBeau, William Fisher; and sister-in-law of the late, Donna (Doucette) Pondelli.
Her Funeral Service was held July 15 followed by her burial at St. Mary Cemetery, No. Tewksbury. Memorial contributions to the Saints Medical Cancer Center, c/o Development Office, 1 Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA 01852, are appreciated.
