James Donald "Don" Sanders, 85, of Clarksville, TN died Sunday July 10, 2011 at his residence. He was born July 15, 1925 in Laurel, MS son of the late James Wilfred Sanders and Bonnie Norman Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Sanders.
Don was a member of First Baptist Church, Clarksville Civitan, Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of the Clarksville Country Club. He was an avid golfer.
He was regional manager for Binswanger Glass Company and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII and during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include two daughters, Kay Sanders, Louisville, KY; and Lisa Patton(Greg), Clarksville; two brothers, Jack Sanders (Martha), and Lowery Sanders (Barbara) both of Memphis, TN; a sister, Mary Katherine Hickle, Davidson, NC; and two grandchildren, Ashley and Jacob Patton.
Services will be held Wednesday July 13, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman, Dr. John Laida, and Dr. Felts Dent officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM and Wednesday from noon until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Morton, Jerry Witherspoon, Jim Fisher, Bobby Moore, Harvey Blanck, and R.T. Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be John Leddy and Paul Sanders.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203-2003.
